As the year comes to a close we inevitably reflect on what has happened over the last 12 months. It has been difficult for us all here in Christchurch. Physically the earthquakes caused all of us some problems from broken houses, lost jobs, business issues, inevitably insurance stresses and these have I know for some people caused personal and relationship problems. It has been tough. But 2011 is nearly over I for one am going to draw a line under it along with a swear word or two and look forward to 2012. As I was writing this [in Auckland] I had some txts announcing more significant shocks......................more swear words!

From an aikido perspective in 2011 I think we have done well. ASC members have supported each other through this difficult year, we have run significant gasshukus and conducted very successful gradings.

I am sure 2012 can only be for all of us a much better year. Whilst the issues caused in 2011 no doubt will roll into 2012 hopefully they come under some control for you and are steadily resolved.

Despite the problems of 2011 we are determined to keep developing ASC and improve our training and facilities. On behalf of ASC please a have a great Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year.
