Masuda Shihan's first class will be Sunday 31 January at 5pm - Burnside Dojo. Then training will continue with Masuda Shihan through February on Tuesday and Thursday 6 - 7.45pm and Sunday 5 - 6.45pm all at the Burnside Dojo.

A successful Open Day was held at the Burnside Dojo yesterday evening with over 70 people attending and watching a short demonstration followed by a Have-a-Go session. With around 40 ASC members present the biggest problem was crowd control and finding space to stand and sit. Many thanks to those that helped during the evening. We hope that many of those that attended the Open Day will go on to join.

The Sunday Weapons Class at the Burnside Dojo will run as usual when Masuda Shihan is here except that it will start and finish 15 mins earlier to allow us to ready the dojo for Masuda Sensei.

Thus from this Sunday 31 January the Sunday weapons class will run from 3.30pm – 4.30pm until March.

This Saturday we will hold a “mini seminar”. It will consist of the morning class at Burnside 10 – 11.15am, then lunch [at Northlands] and two afternoon classes at Linwood Dojo from 2.15 – 4.15pm. This is a great way to prepare for the Auckland gasshuku and Masuda Shihan and get in a little extra training.

It is free.

After the morning class we want to clean the Burnside Dojo in preparation for Masuda Shihan. With enough people it will not take very long. I hope you can help.

Masuda Shihan will be in christchurch from 29 January to 4 March. We anticipate that we will train at the Burnside Dojo with Masuda Shihan on Tuesday and Thursday at 6pm and Sunday at 5pm with the first session on Sunday 31 January. There is a small charge.

I hope that all ASC members will attend these classes with Masuda Shihan. This is an opportunity which everyone should take whatever your grade level. It is a chance to train under one of the great aikido instructors in the world today.

We will hold an Open Day on Wednesday 27 January 6.00 to 7.30pm at the Burnside Dojo [corner Clyde road and Morley Street].

The Open Day will consist of a short demonstration followed by a "have-a-go" session where interested people can try their first aikido class. Everyone is welcome.

These are the full results for the kids end of year grading.

The final kids class for the year for all the dojos will be held at Burnside on Saturday 12 December commencing 9.00am.

The final class will be shortened slightly and then following it we will bring a few goodies for consumption. Of course in this politically correct times we will ensure that all the goodies are very healthy [cut up carrot sticks and sliced mushrooms and the like] and of course water to drink. I will NOT be bringing any lollipops, sweets, fizzy drinks, chips, chocolate etc. Believe what you like!!!
