The 10am adults class this Saturday 28 November at the Burnside Dojo is cancelled. We are running the kids grading that morning – you are most welcome to come and watch.

This weekend just gone was the end of year seminar and grading for Aikdo Shinryukan Canterbury. The grading was held on Sunday and we will shortly post photos and perhaps some video footage.

Kevin has kindly offered to host a BBQ for all ASC students on the evening of the seminar. The BBQ will go from 6pm onwards and is BYO for food and drink. It is a good opportunity for everyone to get together and so I hope you can make it whether or not you are grading or coming to the seminar. Partners and children are very welcome

The Auckland Aikikai 10th Anniversary was celebrated with a seminar held at Kowhai Intermediate on Saturday 31 October. Classes were taken by Rosso Fernandez [Dojo Cho Auck Aikikai], Takase Shihan, Alan Wade and Andrew Williamson. Five members from ASC attended: Andrew, Irene, Terry, Shane and Colin. It was a well attended and enjoyable seminar and we hope something that can be repeated in the future.

Our latest edition [Issue 35] of the Southern Aikido Connection magazine is now online. We have included a book review, details of training by James at Shinryukan Wellington, a wrap of the Spring Seminar with Yamashima Shihan including a video clip and photo album and an article about “Egos on the Mat” by Kevin. A special session for about 20 Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology students was held at the Linwood Dojo. The students were all part of the Languages Division. The hour long class on Friday 23 October was taken by Andrew and Aaron.

The Junior gradings are to be held at the Burnside Dojo.
