Andrew visited Singapore from 8 - 19 July carrying out seminars & senior gradings for Club Aikido, Makoto Dojo and the Shinryukan Gurhka Dojo. Twenty-six yudansha [black belts] were graded.

The next visit will be in early October when several ASC members will stop over on their way to Japan.

We will hold a mid winter mini seminar on 31 July from 2 – 4pm at the Linwood Dojo. It is free to members.

We will hold a round of Proficiency Tests at the end of this month:

- Monday 26 July 6pm – 5th and 4th kyu
- Wednesday July 28th 7.30pm – 3rd to 1st kyu
- Sunday 1 August 5pm Yudansha

The kids classes have finished for term 2. Term 3 starts on Monday 19 July and thus the first kids classes will be:

Burnside Dojo Monday 19 July:
3.45pm Young Juniors
4.45pm Juniors
And then the regular timetabled classes for the Burnside Dojo will follow on the various times and days as usual.

Linwood Dojo: Tuesday 20 July 4.45pm

The Adult classes this Saturday 5 June and Sunday 6 June are cancelled. This is so we can carry out the mid year seminar and grading with Takase Shihan.

There are no kids classes during Queen’s birthday weekend including those on Saturday and Monday.

This was the held on Saturday 29 May and was the first "seminar" for kids held in Canterbury. The guest instructor was Brent Beaumont Sensei [godan] from Auckland.

The 3 classes seemed to fly by quickly. Brent Sensei concentrated on careful teaching of basics such as sabaki and kiri ake kiri sage with his instruction leavened by a large dose of humour. The 35 kids who attended were entranced or at least had to pay close attention to avoid Brent Sensei grabbing their nose.

It is clear the format of a small seminar was very popular with the kids and a valuable training event which we intend to repeat.
